Tru-D SmartUVC to Attend and Exhibit at APIC Conference

Tru-D SmartUVC, which was recently validated by the first and only randomized clinical trial on UV disinfection, will attend and exhibit at APIC 2017, June 14-16 in Portland, Oregon. Each year, APIC delivers the largest annual conference of infection preventionists from across the U.S., and Tru-D invites the more than 2,500 attendees to stop by their booth #808.

“The recently-published Benefits of Enhanced Terminal Room-Disinfection study proves that Tru-D can cut the transmission of four major superbugs by a cumulative 30 percent,” said Chuck Dunn, CEO and president of Tru-D SmartUVC. “We look forward to sharing the study results with APIC attendees and demonstrating how Tru-D can help hospitals build comprehensive UV disinfection programs that mimic the study’s outcomes.”

Tru-D offers a programmatic approach to standardizing UV implementation and utilization in acute care settings and surgical suites. Tru-D’s Director of Clinical Affairs, Ralph Taylor, RN, MSN, MHA, CNOR, has nearly two decades of health care experience including several years spent as Director of Surgical Services at Oak Hill Hospital in Florida. His expertise in successfully implementing UV strategies led to a significant decrease in HAIs in the hospital with minimal disruption to workflow. In addition, Tru-D’s Director of Program Management, Cathy Campbell, CMIP, has more than 20 years of experience in the development and implementation of Environmental Services programs. She has contributed to product innovations, infection prevention support, sustainability efforts and technical training for Environmental Services specifically within health care. Together, they, along with the entire Tru-D team, offer an expert-led approach that is built on science and drives results.

“As a market leader, we drive UV acceptance through education and our expert knowledge,” said Dunn. “With our new Director of Clinical Affairs and our Director of Program Management, Tru-D offers a competitive advantage for our hospital partners.”

Tru-D is a germ-eliminating robot used in patient rooms and operating suites after an environmental services professional has completed traditional cleaning methods. Using its patented Sensor360 technology, Tru-D analyzes the unique makeup of each room including size, shape and contents, to deliver the precise, lethal dose of UVC light, killing up to 99.9% of pathogens in both direct and shadowed areas. Administering a single, measured cycle of UVC light from a single position, Tru-D removes the guesswork along with any chance of human error in the disinfection process. When the cycle is complete, Tru-D alerts the operator via audio and/or text message and can be moved to the next room.

The pioneer in the UV disinfection industry, Tru-D SmartUVC placed the first UV robot in a health care facility in 2007.  With a commitment to innovation and excellent customer experiences, today Tru-D, short for “total room ultraviolet disinfection,” is deployed in hundreds of health care facilities throughout the U.S. Validated by more than a dozen independent studies, Tru-D is backed by the industry’s leading researchers as well as sound science.
