UNC-TV Releases New Video Featuring Tru-D and the BETR-D Study
The University of North Carolina’s “UNC-TV” has released a new video on the Benefits of Enhanced Terminal Room-Disinfection (BETR-D) study, the first and only randomized clinical trial on UV disinfection.
The study proved that Tru-D could cut transmission of four major superbugs by a cumulative 30% among patients who entered the same room.
In the video, lead researcher Dev Anderson, MD, MPH explains, “It’s really difficult to clean a hospital room from top to bottom like we would like to. So what this machine does is add to that chemical clean. We make sure we get as many of the surfaces as we can with the chemicals, but then we are adding on this additional tool.”
How is Tru-D Different from Other Robots on the Market?
The BETR-D study exclusively used Tru-D SmartUVC in its testing due to its ability to compensate for room variables and the delivery of a precise, measured dose to the entire room, not just line of sight.
Dr. Anderson states, “…we are taking advantage of the UV light because it is reflective and so we can actually kill germs that are right here on top of a table in direct sight with the UV machine, but also because the UV light bounces around, we can also kill germs underneath tables.”
