Congratulations to Duke Health: The BETR-D Study Has Been Published!
We are excited to announce that the first-ever randomized clinical trial on UV disinfection is now published in The Lancet! The Benefits of Enhanced Terminal Room-Disinfection (BETR-D) study was funded by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) through the CDC’s Prevention Epicenters Program and conducted across nine hospitals in the Duke Infection Control Outreach Network.
Results showed that enhanced terminal room disinfection strategies using Tru-D decreased the relative risk of colonization and infection of target MDROs among patients admitted to the same room by a cumulative 30 percent in a hospital setting with 93 percent compliance of standard disinfection protocols. Individual hospital results may vary.
Congratulations to Duke Health on the publication of this major study!
