Effectively Fighting HAIs Using an Integrated, Bundled Approach
Germs can live on surfaces for hours, days and even weeks. However, studies have shown that less than 50% of surfaces in a hospital are adequately cleaned after standard cleaning and disinfection protocols.
Over the past decade, numerous advancements have been made to help reduce the incidence of hospital-acquired infections (HAIs) such as “no-touch” UVC disinfection technology. Recent studies suggest combining enhanced disinfection with stringent manual cleaning, hand hygiene and other protocols for a “bundled approach” to infection prevention.
Dr. Rutala recently shared with Infection Control Today the importance of a bundled approach to help stop the spread of HAIs.
