Tru-D SmartUVC to showcase clinically-validated UV disinfection technology at HealthTrust University Conference
The pioneer in the UV disinfection industry, Tru-D SmartUVC, will join members of HealthTrust at the organization’s upcoming University Conference & Vendor Fair in Las Vegas, Nevada, July 17-19 in booth 903. Validated by the only randomized clinical trial on UV disinfection, Tru-D invites members to learn how its innovative technology implements seamlessly into hospitals’ infection prevention programs and workflow.
Tru-D has been a contracted HealthTrust supplier since January 1, 2015, working with supply chain management professionals to help save hospitals precious dollars and improve patient outcomes. HealthTrust, which serves more than 1,600 hospitals and members in more than 22,600 site locations is one of the industry’s only truly committed and aligned group purchasing models.
“As hospital-acquired infections continue to cost both patient lives and valuable dollars, hospitals are looking to save money while also providing the highest level of care possible,” said Chuck Dunn, CEO and President of Tru-D SmartUVC. “By partnering with purchasing organizations such as HealthTrust, Tru-D is able to help reduce the spread of HAIs while assisting hospitals in saving on their bottom line.”
Unlike many of its lookalike offerings, Tru-D operates from a single position in the room administering a single, lethal cycle of UVC energy. Powered on by a remote control outside the room, Tru-D uses its patented Sensor360 technology to analyze the unique makeup of each space including size, shape and contents, to deliver the precise UVC dose needed to kill up to 99.9 percent of harmful pathogens such as C. diff, MRSA, MERS, VRE, Ebola and many others. While the cycle is being completed, environmental services professionals are free to tend to other tasks, minimizing downtime and maximizing workflow. When the cycle is complete, Tru-D automatically shuts down and alerts the operator via audio and/or text message that the room has been thoroughly disinfected.
“UV disinfection has moved beyond infection prevention as supply chain personnel are realizing the impact that enhanced terminal room disinfection has on improving patient outcomes,” said Dunn. “As UV disinfection becomes more widely adopted, hundreds of hospitals are implementing Tru-D in order to keep patients and staff safe and germ-free.”
Tru-D was the only device of its kind selected for the first-ever, randomized clinical trial on UVC disinfection because of its Sensor360 technology that eliminates the chance of human error in the disinfection process. Results of the landmark Benefits of Enhanced Terminal Room Disinfection (BETR-D) study proved that enhanced terminal room disinfection strategies decreased the incidence of multidrug-resistant organisms by a cumulative 30 percent, and the largest decreases were seen when Tru-D was added to the standard cleaning strategy.
