VA Hospital Invests in UVC Disinfection Technology
Gulf Coast Veterans Health Care System (GCVHCS) employees are using an advanced method of disinfecting facility areas, directly impacting the health and safety of veterans visiting the organization’s clinics.
The GCVHCS’ Environmental Management Service (EMS) began training and certification on use of the Tru-D disinfection robot cleaning system in late 2020, an effort designed to ensure GCVHCS EMS continues Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and organizational recommendations for infection control in medical facility settings.
“When we have historically cleaned areas of our facilities, we’ve introduced different chemical agents into the environment,” EMS Environmental Care Specialist Kelvin Spencer, the organization’s lead on the Tru-D disinfection robot, said. “While these are safe and approved, by using the Tru-D Smart UVC Disinfection Robot, we’re eliminating these, providing an additional level of safety for our veterans.”
