Creating efficiencies with the Tru-D® iQ system
In any facility, time is of the essence, and it’s important for cleaning teams to work smarter, not harder, when it comes to disinfection. Cleaning teams have a significant amount of square footage to cover and need a reliable disinfection solution that won’t impede their manual disinfection process or slow them down.
Operating from one placement in the room and administering one cycle of UVC energy, Tru-D® SmartUVC devices allow cleaning staff to complete other functions without being tethered to the device. Further, Tru-D® SmartUVC devices will never sacrifice thorough disinfection outcomes for shorter cycle times. However, with several new features and improved technology — all while maintaining the same, if not better, efficacy against microorganisms — the Tru-D® iQ system has achieved significantly lower cycle times than the Tru-D® Classic device.
The benefits of shorter cycle times
Shorter cycle times help lead to operator efficiencies as more rooms can be turned over quicker, allowing more rooms to be disinfected in a shorter amount of time. While needs and goals may vary by facility — from wanting to increase the number of spaces that are disinfected to increasing the total hours of disinfection performed — shorter run times allow staff more time to complete additional cycles in a shortened amount of time, all while allowing them to perform other tasks during the disinfection process.
In fact, several facilities are seeing the benefits of shortened cycle times using the Tru-D® iQ system compared to the Tru-D® Classic device.
In this scenario, the facility was able to complete 2,489 UVC disinfection cycles with the iQ system with just four minutes active time for staff per cycle as compared to 921 UVC disinfection cycles with the Tru-D® Classic device also with just four minutes active time for staff per cycle. Therefore, the same amount of staff time per cycle was required; however, there were exponentially more hours of UVC cycle time, more rooms disinfected and more efficiencies created for staff.1
Northeast facility sees 47%—77% reduced cycle times1
At one facility in the Northeast, cycle time comparisons were completed in 20 different room types, ranging from small to large. The highest percentage in reduction of cycle times between the Tru-D® iQ system and the Tru-D® Classic Device was 77.97%, and the lowest was 47.98%.1

iQ Scout disinfects smaller spaces to further reduce cycle times
At another facility in the Midwest, the Tru-D® iQ system was compared to the Tru-D® Classic device in 13 different room types between two wings of the facility. In some rooms, the smaller, more maneuverable Tru-D® iQ Scout was used in the adjacent bathroom to further shorten cycle times. Cycle time reductions varied between 8.3% and 61.12%.1

Cycle time efficiencies make Tru-D iQ more powerful
It’s important to note that these cycle time efficiencies also help make the iQ system more powerful than the Tru-D® Classic device. Not only does the Tru-D® iQ system provide faster disinfection with shorter cycle times, but the log reductions for microorganisms are equivalent or better than with the Tru-D® Classic device.
The iQ System achieves equal or better log reductions than Tru-D Classic device
In independent lab testing, Tru-D® iQ Tower achieved a 3.21-4.31 log10 reduction in direct line of sight and shadowed areas of a typical room in as little as five minutes. In an average sized restroom, Scout achieved a 4.01-4.31 log10 reduction in direct line of sight and shadowed areas in as little as eight minutes.1
