At Tru-D® SmartUVC, our Technical Support Specialist (TSS) team is driven by a shared commitment to excellence and a passion for problem-solving. Among our standout team members is Amy Holloway, whose extensive technical background and love for adventure bring a unique perspective to her role.
From the Navy to tech expertise
Amy’s journey into the world of technology began with specialized electronics training in the U.S. Navy, where she completed both “A” and “C” Schools. After her military service, she transitioned into the civilian tech world, gaining hands-on experience working on everything from cell phones to UV lasers.
"I’ve always enjoyed the challenge of troubleshooting and finding solutions," Amy shares. "My time in the Navy laid a strong foundation, and I’ve continued to build on that throughout my career."
A Diverse Path to Tru-D SmartUVC
Originally from Michigan, Amy’s career and life experiences have taken her across the country. After moving around with the Navy, she and her family settled in North Carolina nearly three years ago. Amy has been with Tru-D SmartUVC for almost two years and has found her home in a company that values teamwork and innovation.
"The camaraderie at Tru-D SmartUVC is unmatched," Amy said. "There’s a real sense of team here. Everyone supports one another, and that makes all the difference. I’ve worked in environments where people saw knowledge-sharing as a threat. At Tru-D SmartUVC, we believe that teamwork makes the dream work."
Redefining roles in a male-dominated field
As a woman in a traditionally male-dominated industry, Amy knows firsthand the challenges and opportunities that come with the territory.
"It's refreshing to be part of a team at Tru-D SmartUVC where a significant portion of the TSS (technical support specialist) group is women," she notes. "In previous roles, I’ve often been one of just a handful of women in a sea of technicians. It’s empowering to see more women breaking into tech roles, but there’s still work to do—women make up 50% of the population but only about 25% of tech-related jobs."
Amy is proud to contribute to a diverse team that’s setting a new standard in the industry.
Delivering top-notch customer service
For Amy, one of the most rewarding aspects of her role is interacting with customers.
"Our customers are always happy to see me," she said. "They appreciate the care and attention we provide. I’ve heard from many that our competitors don’t offer the same level of customer service, and that makes me even more proud of what we do at Tru-D SmartUVC.”
Life beyond work
When she’s not traveling for work, Amy is often planning her next adventure. An avid traveler and photographer, she loves capturing the beauty of the world through her lens. At home, she enjoys spending time with her husband, three dogs, a “seriously fat cat” and staying connected with her grown children and grandson.
A legacy of excellence
Amy’s journey, from her military service to her current role at Tru-D SmartUVC, exemplifies resilience, adaptability and a passion for continuous learning. She’s not only breaking barriers in a male-dominated field but also setting an example for future generations of women in tech.
At Tru-D SmartUVC, we’re proud to have Amy on our team, and we’re excited to see her continue to grow and thrive.
